Auto Insurance

Kansas auto insurance, with people who actually answer

Coverage that fits how you drive in Kansas

Whether you're commuting on I-35, hauling kids to school in Shawnee, or driving across the state for work, the right auto policy is the difference between a stressful claim and a clean one. Modern Consulting builds auto coverage around your real driving — the cars you own, the miles you put on, and the assets you need to protect.

We walk every client through the difference between meeting the Kansas legal minimum and actually being protected. For most drivers, the legal minimum is not enough. We'll show you where the gaps are and let you decide.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the minimum auto insurance required in Kansas?
Per Kansas Statutes Annotated Chapter 40, Article 31 (K.S.A. 40-3104 et seq., the Kansas Automobile Injury Reparations Act), Kansas requires liability coverage of at least 25/50/25 — that is, $25,000 for injuries per person, $50,000 total per accident, and $25,000 for property damage. Kansas is also a no-fault state, so Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is required — minimum $4,500 in medical expense coverage plus additional categories for lost wages and rehabilitation. These are the legal minimums, not what most drivers actually need. We recommend higher limits for anyone with assets to protect.
What's the difference between liability and full coverage?
Liability pays for damage you cause to other people and their property. Full coverage adds collision (damage to your own car in an accident) and comprehensive (theft, hail, fallen trees, animal strikes — especially relevant in Kansas where deer collisions are common). If your car is financed or leased, lenders almost always require full coverage.
How can I lower my Kansas auto insurance premium?
The biggest levers are raising your deductible, bundling auto with home, maintaining a clean driving record, improving your credit, and using telematics programs. Annual policy reviews catch cases where your rate drifted up or your coverage no longer matches your life — that review is part of what we do for every Modern Consulting client.
Does my Kansas auto policy cover me in Missouri or other states?
Yes. A standard auto policy follows you across state lines for personal travel within the U.S. and Canada. Many of our Kansas clients commute or travel into Missouri regularly — your coverage moves with you. If you're renting a vehicle on a long trip, call us before you go so we can confirm any gaps.
Do you cover motorcycles, boats, ATVs, and golf carts?
Yes — we write separate specialty policies for motorcycles, boats, ATVs, and golf carts. These aren't automatically covered by your personal auto policy, so if you own any of them, make sure we know.
